The PDO (Polydioxanone) thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment which lifts and tightens skin tissue as well as contours the face. This is a better approach if one does not want to add volume to the face and simply wants to achieve contour and shape.
How does it work?
The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin. Once introduced, the threads have 3 amazing effects on the skin: instant skin lifting, skin tightening and collagen stimulation. PDO threads stimulate neocollagenesis, increasing the amount of collagen in the skin. As this happens, the appearance of the skin improves as well as the overall texture.
Skin becomes thicker, tighter and firmer reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Simultaneously, the PDO threads can cause the fat tissue to contract producing a skin tightening effect. Depending on the results you are looking for and laxity of the skin we use different types of threads or combinations to create a scaffolding.
The lifted facial contour can last up to 12 months after procedure, due to the collagen stimulation effects. Six months after treatment, PDO threads will disappear as they are absorbable.
Different Types of Threads:
- SMOOTH: Used to stimulate collagen
- BARBED: Used to lift and reposition the skin
- SCREWED: Used to add volume
- BOOSTER: Used to plump and strengthen the skin
